From childhood to adolescence, I’ve always found myself more sensitive than many other children to everything around. Now, people like me are being called highly sensitive people. Being exposed to all kinds of noise and complexity everyday exhausts me, so young me figured out a way to escape, which is to close my eyes and imagine being in a completely safe space when I feel I need a moment of peace. At the beginning this place was a well with white sand at the bottom, as I grow, it became a round pool in the middle of a forest with white sand bottom, and then it became a round lake surrounded by white sand beach and forest, with a sun beneath the surface of the water. My little hide-away helped me so much along the way, it holds a special place in my heart. That’s why I decided to paint it as a commemorate.
